Explore Mars: A Mars Rover Game

Drive a Rover Across the Red Planet

Explore Mars is an educational space exploration game where you control a robotic rover and investigate rocks on the surface of Mars. Your mission is to help scientists collect information about the Red Planet by choosing interesting rocks and sending the rover to study them.

You do not drive the rover like an ordinary car. Instead, you give it a set of instructions that tell it where to go and what to do when it reaches its destination.

The game introduces children to the way scientists and engineers plan robotic missions. Every successful investigation earns points and helps you discover more about exploring another planet.

Plan Your Rover's Journey

Each mission begins by choosing a rock that you want to investigate.

Look at the position of your rover and the location of the rock. You need to work out how to reach it before sending any instructions.

The game lets you create a sequence of commands that guides your rover across the Martian surface.

Think about the direction and movement required to reach the selected rock. Arrange your instructions carefully so the rover follows the correct route.

You also need to include a command to analyze the rock. Reaching the destination alone is not enough to complete the investigation.

Study Martian Rocks and Earn Points

Once your rover reaches the correct location, it can examine the rock and collect useful information.

The rover sends its findings back to scientists on Earth.

Every successfully analyzed rock gives you points. Some rocks offer higher rewards than others, so choosing which one to investigate can affect your final score.

Try planning routes that help you reach valuable rocks without making unnecessary movements.

Learn About Real Mars Rovers

Explore Mars introduces children to the work of real robotic explorers such as Perseverance.

Scientists send rovers to Mars to examine rocks and learn about the planet's environment.

Studying Martian rocks can reveal clues about how Mars changes over time. Some rocks may even contain evidence about whether the planet once had conditions suitable for tiny living organisms.

You may also notice a small helicopter accompanying your rover during the game.

How to Play Explore Mars

Start by selecting a rock to investigate. Create a series of movement instructions that leads your rover toward the chosen target.

Add the instruction to analyze the rock, then send your commands to the rover.

Watch the rover carry out your plan and collect points for successful investigations.

Explore Mars helps children practice planning, following directions, and solving problems. It gives young space explorers a chance to experience how a robotic mission works while learning about the planet Mars.
