ShapeWise 3D is an interactive learning tool designed to help students understand the essential properties of three-dimensional shapes. Instead of relying only on diagrams and written definitions, learners can explore visual models and see how faces, edges, and vertices form each object. The lessons now cover 14 shapes: cube, cuboid, triangular prism, pentagonal prism, hexagonal prism, octagonal prism, square pyramid, pentagonal pyramid, hexagonal pyramid, triangular pyramid, cylinder, cone, hemisphere, and sphere. Students also learn that a triangular pyramid is commonly called a tetrahedron.

The Shape Lab gives students an opportunity to examine each 3D shape individually. The models rotate automatically, can be turned by dragging, and can be paused whenever a learner wants a closer look. Face, Edge, and Vertex controls highlight the relevant parts of each model, while direct shape interactions help students connect mathematical terms with visible features. Clear descriptions and optional narration explain how many faces, edges, and vertices each shape has, including why a hemisphere has two faces and one edge but no vertices.

Compare Prisms, Pyramids, and Curved Shapes

The expanded lessons make it easier to compare related shape families. Students can see how pentagonal, hexagonal, and octagonal prisms each have two matching polygon bases, while pentagonal and hexagonal pyramids have one polygon base and triangular faces that meet at an apex. Curved models such as the cylinder, cone, hemisphere, and sphere help learners understand the difference between flat faces, curved faces, circular edges, and vertices. Familiar examples, including dice, cereal boxes, food cans, balls, and ice-cream cones, show how three-dimensional geometry appears in everyday life.

Test Knowledge Through Interactive Challenges

ShapeWise 3D includes several activities for practicing newly learned concepts. The 20-Round Challenge includes all 14 shapes and combines shape-name questions, face, edge, and vertex counts, and prompts that ask students to tap the correct part of a model. The five-level Line Match activity uses 25 questions drawn from the complete shape collection. Both activities award stars and turn revision into an active experience with a clear sense of progress.
